If Fukushima makes Monbiot a fan of nuclear power imagine what another
Chernobyl would do. He would become a raving fanatic for nuclear technology.
For
some reason he does not mention Chernobyl. I have always thought of Monbiot as
an environmentalist entertainer like Glenn Beck on the right. He does not
mention the expense of nuclear power nor the problem of storing wastes for
centuries either. It is a shallow article. Basically all it does it show the
problems of creating sufficient energy sources given the present global demand.
As someone else mentioned perhaps we should try to more diminish demand and use
existing sources more efficiently among other things.

Cheers, kenl

Subject: [Pen-l] Monbiot Fan of Nukes Even More Now

Apparently Monbiot is serious when he says "Why Fukushima made me stop
worrying and love nuclear power".

I thought Monbiot was generally sensible. I think I'm generally
sensible and have great distrust of the long- and short- term safety
of nuclear power.

Does Monbiot make any obvious errors in his article? What is he
overlooking?

Bill
