I resolved this dilemma over on LBO after making an obnoxious fool of myself 
the other night ranting how this can't be an accurate representation.

China is only part of the picture of the Pacific Rim that includes S. Korea, 
Japan, SEA , etc.. If you include South Asia, I think you will get a much 
clearer view of Asian trade and US consumption. My mistake was to consider 
China as representative of what I saw around me, a swamp of Asian made 
products, not just Chinese.
