I see nothing wrong with neologisms. A lot of people throw around a lot of fancy words without defining them. A neologism _forces_ one to define it. In this case, we might equate "meta-metaphor" with Joe Schumpeter's idea of a "vision," at least as a first approximation. The "vision" that Destutt and Dr. M. refer to is simply _one kind_ of vision of society. Dr. M. had a different vision. There are at least two definitions of "ideology" floating around. One of them involves "false consciousness" or a vision that distorts empirical reality. IMHO, Destutt's vision (of bourgeois individuality) fits that definition, while Marx's does not. That is, at least according to the chosen definition, there can be visions or meta-metaphors that aren't ideological.
