Greetings Economists, I like the idea of a Wiki for the left. For example, the biggest critic of Wikipedia is peer review and standards of publishing stable information.
Well I would love to re-open the idea of socialist realism. And subject that to a stabilizing debate. We know in terms of visual function in humans a great deal more now than was known in the nineteenth century about visual realism. The famous remark Engel's made on literature seems to me to be applicable in terms of visual realism and computing. Where Engel's was seeking a sense of wholeness as opposed to empirical realism of the sort Zola was doing. This sense of wholeness is related to various forces within computing and the social impact of information structure. Therefore a debate about visual realism starting with re-evaluating the Picasso vision of cubism might be very interesting. And the way to argue into that direction is laid out in a number of scientific areas. Primarily, how does dyslexia work, migraines sometime affect seeing motion, Alzheimer's motion blindness, as opposed to Cézanne's first groping toward multiple views of the landscape.
