A number of responses came to this. For my part I know little about the geology
of oil and its time scale. I understand the conventional wisdom of 'geological
scales of time' being essential. Is there some sort of empirical 'proof' of
this? I agree with those who pointed to the limitations of a simple
consideration of a total fixed store of oil.
Please allow me two naive questions for those here, for my own understanding:
i) Does anyone have a reputable citation on the circulation of oil reserves in
the sense of creation biochemically-geologically?
ii) In general the left critiques waste-over dependency on oil etc, and largely
focuses this on Western governments. I agree with this general critique. What
attention has either the Left paid to Chavez's pursuit of the oilcard
diplomatically speaking? Or what has Chavez and state had to say about the
general environmental issues swirling around oil, their own use of it and their
use of the diplo-card?
Many thanks in advance,
Hari Kumar
