Ah, I just remembered another curious thing I saw once. At the Psyche World
Butterfly Park Jeju Island South Korea they have dioramas with insects standing
in like people in a huge range of scenarios. (see
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTAkiIu0hwY). When my daughter visited there a
few years ago then showed me pictures, at least one of the dioramas showed
clear indications (frass, physical damage) of some of these little insect
characters.
How is your travel budget?
Rob

Dear Dan, Robert, John, Richard, John and Tom
Thank you so much for reacting to my post!
I am really thrilled by all your suggestions,
Although I can only use professional photographs for my book, I am also very
happy with examples for my personal research. So please don't be shy to mail
them. My email address is
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.
I am going to look in to the suggested museums (the vase does not fit my
concept but looks amazing!)
The suggestion for the Deutsches Entomologisches Intitut is also very useful,
I will look in to that!
I have once seen a copy of the Maria Sybillya Merian in a the Artis Libary in
Amsterdam, it is truly a masterpiece!
The fungi on books I also came across, but I prefer things that are not
initiated by humans (I assume that the mushrooms on the books are cultivated?)
And Dan, yes that is also a very interesting meta-perspective, I will look in
to that!

Thanks again

Kind Regards,
Sema

Sema,

Going with Richard Pollack’s “twist on a theme” theme, you might want to talk
with the curator of the insect collection at the Museum für Naturkunde. Insects
such as carpet beetle larvae can wreak havoc on insect collections, which are a
particular type of “human-made object” (and are also works of art in my view).
The museum might have some examples of such damage to show you.

Hello, I am an artist based in Berlin Germany and I am making a book about how
nature interferes with human made objects.
Would you have any objects for example books eaten by insects, artworks with
mouse holes in them, that I could photograph for my project?
My website for the project is readingbyosmosis.com<http://readingbyosmosis.com>
