Dear Sónia,

These little flies appear to be fruit flies, not mosquitoes. The adult females
deposit their eggs in wet or moist organic materials. A single piece of fruit,
forgotten on or in a desk drawer or left elsewhere, may generate many hundreds
of adult flies. The drip trays and interior of the drain lines of beverage
dispensers, such as coffee and soda machines, are often found to be small
factories for fruit flies. The plumbing drains, themselves, are also likely
candidates as production sites for flies.

To ascertain the source, invert a clear plastic or glass container over each
drain at the end of the day. Then, see which container has flies the next
morning. That usually offers a quick answer to the dilemma. Make sure you do
this with the drains on beverage machines as well.

Cleaning the organic material from the source is critical.

Best wishes for your hunt for the solution to the problem.
-Rich

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you for help to solve a problem that our institution has
had with the mosquitoes that I show you in annex. Last week we eliminated the
deposition of all organic residues, but even so they continue to appear next to
the coffee machine and in some rooms. How can we eliminate this parasite?

Thank you so much for all the information and sharing,

Best Regards,

Sónia Casquiço
