Hi all, I am looking for a good database for our collection which holds vertebrates and invertebrates. That should be a database with gis capabilities, incorporating the geo-coordinates, to know the location on a map. With this you can also produce ditribution maps. We are currently using Biolink, which was developed by CSIRO in australia. Unfortunately there is no support available anymore. Before that we used the Unesco based DOS-ISIS, which we adapted for our own use. We stopped using ISIS when WIN-ISIS was made. Please keep in mind that we have a tight budget (or no budget at all). I tried downloading Specify6, but were not able to, due to connection problems. Hope to try it thoug. I also have downloaded MANTIS and that works well, wasn't it for the lack of GIS. You may fill in coordinates, but you cannot produce maps. Any suggestions will be reviewed and considered. Thanks in advance.
