BTW, if you ever need to do really fancy graphics, I think you can do similar tricks with ActionScript in Flash. Surveys suggest that something of the order of 98% of all browsers have a Flash plugin installed and the plugin *is* available on Linux.

I've started dabbling with Flash, using some open source development tools which are available on Linux. I'm exploring it for a possible elearning project. I've not done anythng serious with Flash yet, but it appears from the documentation that you can load data from a URL into your flash application. ActionScript is essentially JavaScript with some extensions, so that parsers that work in JavaScript should work in ActionScript.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the JavaScript approach on your project. Good luck.
