After some tinkering, I found that the combination for making windows "more or less opaque" ie more or less transparent (dependinghpe you view things), use:
ALT + Mouse Wheel UP or DOWN. I just tried this and I may need someone to help me tweak my graphics some how (if anyone wants a butchers Im bringing my PC to the LUG meeting), because I have a wee problem with the opacity thing. Ok, set the scene, I run a movie in gMplayer, I dont load it fullscreen because it hogs the screen and I cant have other windows on top of it. So I set the window to "maximized" instead. Ok great. Then I load a terminal window, over the top of the movie file, again, maximized I have set my terminal up (ok yes geek alert) to green text on black . I run ls -lR from the root (/) directory, this just makes things happen in the terminal window while I play with the 3d effects. Now heres where it all goes a bit Pete Tong.... I click to focus on the terminal window, then ALT + Mousewheel (Up or Down I cant remember) to make the terminal window transparent so I can watch the movie while still working at the CLI effectively fullscreen. Again this looks fantastic until I let go of either the mouse or the ALT key, at which point what was opaque showing behind the transparent terminal now shows like snowy interferance. Yet if I CTRL + ALT and move the cube about slowly, the opacity works again and I can see the ls -lR going crazy and I can see the movie behind the terminal window playing fine. As soon as I return the cube so that I am back on the desktop again, the snow-like interferance returns. Any ideas? Any one having similar problems?
