Well those of you that read my first emails when I joined PLUG, will know that two of my main concerns about migrating from Windows to Linux were DIRECT X GAMES (Solved courtesy of Ben Hayes and his Cedega Demonstration, thanks Ben, awesome demonstration!!!).
The other concern I had was DV Capture from my DV Camcorder. Now I found an application (either via synaptic or automatix I cant remember how I got it now) called KINO, never used it yet but looks like its up to the job. Anyway today I thought I would scour the net for some KINO how-to's for use over the weekend, and I found a real golden nugget that has to be shared, video tutorials on how to use KINO for DV capture / editting!! If any one else uses a digital camcorder and is, like me, wondering about GNU\Linux software for this type of thing, wonder no more! http://www.kinodv.org/article/view/161/1/9/ Enjoy! Hope this is useful. PS I cant say wether this KINO is any good or not, as I havent really used it yet, but the video tutorials look pretty cool, also if anyone has ever used KINO, or knows of any better DV capture suites out there for Linux that are GNU/GPL based then feel free to add to this. Also is something like this worth linking to on the main site? Personally I think if more windows users that "have their doubts" can acccess and see stuff like this to put their fears at bay, it can only be a good thing! Comments please! -- ***** Richard Forth "I used to be indecisive, but now, I''m not so sure!" *****
