This also brings me to a nice change of topic in that we should be lobbying
to get more vendors to provide sections in their product manuals for
"setting up your new Monitor in Linux" too....not just windows...etc etc...

I finally got my 1400x1050 resolution by inserting the correct ModeLine
into the Monitor section of xorg.conf.

The modeline I needed was:
   ModeLine "1400x1050" 123.48 1400 1464 1616 1896 1050 1050 1052 1089

I found the solution thanks to a comment in one of the reviews of the
product on eBuyer.
