I just treated myself to a 20" TFT with native 1400x1050 resolution. How do I persuade my Ubuntu (7.04) to use this resolution?
I have tried using nvidia-settings to do it and that worked, but it keeps reverting to a different resolution which seems to be about 1400x1024. Eg: If I let the TFT auto-detect the resolution, with the Ubuntu desktop at 1400x1050, then what I actually end up with is my desktop cut off at the top of the task bar at the foot of the page (I see full width and right to the top of the screen with no black borders, I just lose the task bar off the bottom of the screen). This also tends to happen any time I turn off the screen and turn it on again, or if power saving turns off the screen and back on again. It is "stable" at 1280x1024 but poor quality due to the scaling (and besides I paid for the extra pixels and I want to use them). If relevant I'm going through quite an old KVM switchbox, which due to the way things are cabled is quite tricky to bypass, but I think that should be my next move? -- Mark Rogers // More Solutions Ltd (Peterborough Office) // 0845 45 89 555 Registered in England (0456 0902) at 13 Clarke Rd, Milton Keynes, MK1 1LG _______________________________________________ Peterboro mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/peterboro
