In the same thread at eBuyer where I was given the settings, another end user and created a suitable .INF file for Windows and made it available, because the manufacturer hadn't. Given that this particular manufacturer didn;t even see fit to make life easy for Windows users, I suspect that convincing them to make life easier for Linux users might be hard work!
