Neither conflict nor overlap nor fit actually express the underlying idea very clearly, at least IMHO. I'm not opposed to using some wording along these lines if we can think of a clear way to word it, but I think my wording is better than using some unclear word for this concept. I think that calling a constraint failure a check violation is not too much of a stretch, even if it's technically a partition constraint rather than a CHECK constraint.
