Thanks Philippe. Downgrading automake didn't help, though:

----------------
$ automake --version
automake (GNU automake) 1.4-p4

$ autoconf --version
Autoconf version 2.13
$ libtool --version
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 1.4.2 (1.922.2.54 2001/09/11 03:33:37)
$ ./autogen.sh
autogen.sh: using private SDL m4 file
autogen.sh:running: aclocal -I macros -I macros/extra
aclocal: configure.in: 162: macro `AM_PROG_LIBTOOL' not found in library

The libtool version doesn't seem to be exactly the same (1.4.2a of
2002/06/26 vs. 1.4.2 of 2001/09/11 ).
I can't find your version on http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/libtool/.

Thanks, Bernhard
