I think that would confuse me, and maybe break syntax highlighting.
It *looks* like a message send to nothing.
How about something that gives more feeling of inserting...
  add <-- 3 , 4.
  add <<< 3 , 4.
  add <<: 3 <<: 4.
  add @:3 @:4.
