A friend recently had the same thing happen -- I can't remember if we'd figured out he was playing 4-minute cylinders on a 2-minute machine or vice-versa, but that was the case with the skipping. Considering Edisons are driven by feedscrews, it's actually pretty hard to get them to skip throughout a proper-timed cylinder, isn't it?
