Jer,

Our friend and fellow collector Bob Coon from Menasha, Wiscosnsin has
always recommended that upright machines travel with their lids secured
another way than using the lock! He has seen too many locks torn out, or
just slightly deranged from hoisting them and the travel itself. That
may have been your problem Jer, even though you have years of experience
and "just a few" uprights yourself! ;-)

I have always transported uprights with the locks unlocked, and either
strapped the lids down, or used another means.

Straw poll anyone!?

Jeff

Subject: [Phono-L] The locked lid is open. Thanks!

Thanks for all the suggestions for opening my Victrola
lid. I didn't have to resort to any lubrication in
the lock. A friend helped and through a combination
of gently flexing and pushing the lid, we were able to
operate the lock. Mike, if your check is in the mail,
I'll cash it and buy good beer. Thanks & Happy
Collecting, Jerry Blais (Albany, Or.)

does anyone have experience with this Auction Co.? They have zero feedback
with Ebay. And I remember the last auction they advertised, there are some
of the exact items that are in this one. There is a killer Rockola Commando
that I sure would like to have, but the photo is the same one that was in
the prior auction. I wonder if the auction house owns much of that stuff.
