Now I don't know what to do when I transport machines. I have always
followed Jerry's lead. Jerry was one of my mentors and look at what happened
to him! :)

In all seriousness, I think I will heed Bob Coon's suggestions.

Dan

ps Sorry to poke fun at Jerry... Couldn't resist.

I transport lots of machines each year. If possible I always use the built in
lock. When no lock is available I use the large furniture rubber bands. These
wrap nicely around the whole victrola regardless of type or model.
I do need to replace some of these though; if anyone knows of a current source
please let me know.

I am sooo glad you reminded me... I'm heading over to the coast
tomorrow to pick up a phono and I need to get another roll of wrap
  today.
