Date: 2007-08-24, 7:10PM CDT

Hello, I have ~1,150 shellac 78 records for someone's enjoyment. You can
have them for a song.....well actually for $600.00, that's ~.50 each (and
its buy all or none). I have enjoyed collecting, studying, and playing
these. I also have some great books on the history of some of these cats,
which I may sell as well. I have played most of the records on a Rega
Plannar 78 turntable, a turntable that only plays 78s. I will sell the
turntable for an additional 250.00 to the person who buys the
records.....which will include an extra stylus, 100.00 value. Otherwise I
will sell the turntable for 300.00, but only after the records have been
sold. The player currently sells for 500.00, new. Some of these 78s sound
better than vinyl, especially on this turntable!!

The records offer a broad spectrum of music. Artist include but not limited
to: Rosetta Howard, Harlem Hamfats, Tampa Red, Georgia Tom, Light Crust
Doughboys, Count Basie, Mischa Elman, Maud Powell, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz

Tone, V-Disc, victor, X, plus many others.

You get single sided, thick edisons, 10" & 12", foreign country labels and
artists.

I figure 700 these records are in excellent to mint shape. The rest are in
good shape where you most likely will hear some noise. Good Does not mean
poor! I am being conservative. Ten are in poor shape that I know you will
hear noise. But you be the judge and come view, and play them if you
want...before you buy. All records are in either in bound books or in paper
sleeves. ALL of them. They have been stored on their edges, not on their
sides. You really should check these guys out.

Some of the interesting history on these records include:
1. Alma Gluck and her "carry me back to old virginny" was the first
celebrity recording by a classical musician to sell one million copies.
2. Tempo records president discovered bother bones and his shadows and
eventually he recorded "sweet Georgia brown" which became the harlem
globetrotters theme song.
3. I believe Abe Lyman's California orch was one of the first west coast
jazz recordings.
4. Art Hickman was the first to incorporate a jazz tone to dance orch.
5. Boyd Bennett and his rockets song "seventeen" was the first rock and roll
record created for teenage girls. DJ alan freed coined the term "rock and
roll" after listening to this song!
6. Carson Robinson is also known as the grandfather of hillbilly.
7. Original Dixieland jazz band "livery stable blues" was the first recorded
jazz record.(almost feel like keeping this record and framing it)
8. The charioteers lead vocalist was Billy Williams. Billy latter went out
by himself and became American bandstand's TV show first performer.
9. Many more for you to explore..

You really should check these guys out. If your interested in picking up my
hobby , let me know. I can be reached at 512-402-1258..or
