I'm +1 for separating the less popular ones, but I'm -1 for separating 
everything (look up the archives as to why...)

I wasn't talking about you personally, but the PHP project in general 
:)  If we still have to tie up releases to a stable snapshot of all of the 
extensions, then it won't help the release schedule too much.  It may make 
it easier

It'll probably be easier for most people who don't really care too much 
about the version of each individual extension (which, from my experience 
anyway, accounts for most of the users).
