Add-ons like typeahead are part of the 'bootstrap' theme development, so any work being done to fix typeahead by the developers is targeted at the bootstrap ground rules, so while IE8 is being supported as other commits here have shown, those commits specifically ignore IE7 as it is no longer supported? This is just cherry picking some problems rather than fixing the whole framework.
