Hallo Friedhelm,
ich möchte mich einmal persönlich an Sie wenden bzgl. der
deutschsprachigen Referenzliste in meinen Buch, welches ich zu
veröffentlichen zu gedenke.
Zunächsteinmal möchte ich ihnen sagen, dass es für mich
selbstverständlich ist, zuerst mit dem oder den Autoren Verbindung
aufzunehmen, deren Unterlagen ich verwenden möchte, aus dem einfachen
Grunde, weil ich die Arbeit anderer respektiere, auch wenn es sich um
OpenSource Projekte handelt.
Ich bin ein großer Anhängervon PHP, Eurer Sache und Eurer Community.
Ich habe schon hunderten von Interessierten den Umgang mit PHP
nahegebracht, und viele von Ihnen wenden es heute erfolgreich an.
Also Sie sehen, ich arbeite hart für die Verbreitung dieser
Skriptsprache.
In meinem Fall geht es nicht darum, dass ich mich mit fremden Feder
schmücken möchte, also einfach Eure Arbeit abdrucken möchte, vielmehr
geht es mir darum meine Erfahrungen mit PHP und PHP Listings von mir
in einem Buch niederzuschrieben. Zu den Themen die ich behandelt
habe, möchte ich eine vollständige Referenzliste mitveröffentlichen,
die dann entsprechend dem Buch angepasst ist.
Ich bin ebenfalls bereit an Eurer Dokumentation mitzuarbeiten, ja
sogar bereit, die Referenz zu den Themen die ich oben angeführt habe,
und die ich in meinem Buch (angepasst) veröffentliche,Euch zur
Verfügung zu stellen.
Ich würde Ihnen (Euch) sehr verbunden sein, wenn Sie dem Vorschlag
zustimmen könnten.

My question on what he would like to repusblish is only implicitly
answered, he said nothing about the content he would like to republish,
but as it seems to me half of the book would be from the German PHP
manual (200 pages), so it won't be just a list, as he suggested but a
full documentation.
Now the question is what the English authors and the German translators
think about a book containing part of the manual as one half of the
content of it.
As one of the German translators (don't know about other people opinions):
First of all: the German trans might be particular outdated and therefore
plain misleading/wrong. Publishing in a printed book seems not a good idea to
me, pointing to the online docs (and the downloadable versions) is always
possible.
Near 50 % of a book is a huge amount, and I personally have some objections
against. I might be wrong, but Andreas never contributed to the German trans
and selling half a book based on the work of others is not smart;-)
So I am -1 on this.
Anyway, contributing to the German trans is always welcome.
