Goggy, I also had appoplexy of by tumor that damaged my right crainial nerve leaving my right eye totally paralized. I could not open my eyelid, move my eye up or down or right or left, nor would my pupil dialate. Following emergency surgery I recovered most of my mobility but I was left with severe double vision. There are several others on this board who have had similar experiences. I just bring this up to point out that one of main reasons for surgery on large tumors is to avoid similar damage to the optic nerves. Once the damage ocours it may not be reverseable. This is an article from Harvard that substantiates the effects of tumors and surgery for tumors on memory and executive function (being able to make a dicision and move ahead). I have problems with both. When I have problems with the executive function it sometimes feels like fatigue. This can be caused by mass effect or hormones. When you think that these symptoms might be "all in your head" they probably are! They are part of the disease. I make lists and work hard to keep moving ahead. It helps me to know that I am not just lazy and that I can work to overcome these effects. Daryl |
