Hi, I'm new to the board. My daughter is 21 years old. She has been sick for a long time. A few months ago she was diagnosed with Secondary Addisons Disease. We live in N.Y. and couldn't find a doctor who could help us. We went to see Dr. Ludlam. He found a microadenoma pressing on the optic nerve. Also the blood work show that my daughters adrenal gland does not work even after stimulation. The confusing part is that he thinks she has Cushings which is the complete oppostite of adrenal failure. Dr Ludlam said that he thinks in time my daughters adrenal gland will wake up and start producing high cortisol. He said that the most confusing part is that all the rest of her hormones are normal. The other pituitary hormones are normal! She is even lactating alot with normal prolactin levels!! The endocrinogist that we go to here in New York wondered if she could have a non functioning tumor. Dr ludlam want to test her every month to see if her cortisol levels change. He also said that in the mean time we can get another opinion to see if any one else can help her. What do we do now? Where do we go? My daughter is so tired she can hardly get out of bed. She lost her job! Headaches everyday. Now she is so depressed and I just don't know what to do! Does this make sense to anyone! Thank you Mary |
