Hi, thank you for replying, I've had surgery for ostomy several times & they had to open stomach a few times, so I'm pro at pain lol- was just wondering how it compared- sounds like it'll be alright (Not pleasant, but alright) I'm going to Mass General in Boston on the 7'th of March. I was diagnosed with Acromegaly 3 months ago, had several tests to make sure (Plus I have some symptoms that suggest it) Been real dizzy lately :( My tumor is 1.2 cm or 12 mm, so it's just above the size that surgeons like to work with as far as cures go- Hopefully it's not too close to eye nerves & caroitid artery (sp?) Yeah, I'm real nervous about the complications that can happen (Probably worrying for nothing- but that's my nature- oh joy :) ) (I don't really worry much actually, it's just that this type of operation and the complications it can cause have got me nerved up- don't really care about the physical pain or whatever, I just can't lose my sight because of the ostomy I have- I need to see what I'm doing with it. I know the risk is low for loss of sight- especially with as good a sergoen as I'm going to, but with my luck, I just worry I think I might be related to Murphy- inventor of Murphie's law) I'm glad you came out with relatively low problems from the operation. You certainly had one of the best Doctors for this type surgery- I've done quite a bit of research & thought about seeing him as well, but decided on Boston as it's closer & my folks are from there originally, so they get a mini vacation while I'm there too- hopefully everything goes good so that it won't damper the vacation for us all =) Two questions, 1: Do you have to sleep with your head elevated for awhile? (I can't pictuire myself doing that- I toss & turn alot & might not be able to stay elevated) 2: I read you're not supposed to sneeze for like 3-4 months after? I sneeze alot lol. Is your nose still sore? or can you blow your nose, or are you restricted for that for awhile? Hate to ask so many questions, but trying to ask doctors these things, it's like they haven't gone through them themselves & have just pat standard answers that don't relate to the real life after surgery |
