Yeah... but you got to remember who your audience is, and what articles they can access through the internet, and what articles they can't. ![]() In the Williams Textbook of Endocrinology... 9th Edition "If the serum prolactin concentration is greater than 200 to 250 ug/l it is almost certain that the patient harbors a prolactinoma, and further prolactin measurements are unnecessary." "However, mild elevation of serum prolactin levels, e.g. 25 ug/l, it is usually necessary to repeat the measurement once or twice." They then discuss in this type of situation (mild elevation of serum prolactin) putting in a catheter and letting the patient rest for 2 hrs to get over "stress" then testing every 20 minutes. It also discusses that prolactin can change with eating, but the level of change is so small that for clinical purposes, fasting is not necessary. This article was authored by Dr. Thorner at UVA. I have not heard of doctors doing IV sampling for prolactin from patients in the clinical setting, interestingly even from Dr. Thorner's patients - lol. ![]() I'll look over your article link after I get caught up.
