Hi Marcia, I can only say, my experience with my own non-functioning pit tumor is that it did not and do not create the sort of symptoms before and after surgery. I thought I had hearing and vision problems, and therefore I in fact went to see those specialists before I was told to get a MRI to exclude a possible acoustic tumor (pure guess) which may be the cause of my complaints. Then they saw the pit tumor! Later I found out I was not alone in this kind of bizarre situation, many people with huge non-functioning tumors found out they had the problem rather accidentally on doing MRIs for other suspected causes. So may I suggest you ask your doctor(s) to determine whether that tumor is really non-functioning type? I tend to agree 4mm is too small to operate on if it is really a non-functioning type. Some inexperienced neurosurgeons may not even be able to find it!! But if it is secreting type, perhaps the earlier it is out the better. Just my thoughts. Trust your doctors. Regards, Oldmanfore |
