Hi I'm a new commer on this board. I was reading through a lot of the messages that people post and thought this would be a great group for me to join. I had surgery about 3 weeks ago to remove a functioning growth hormone secreting tumor. My Surgern told me that he got all of the tumor out, yet i personally have not noticed a change, as i had acromegaly. I had my blood test taken about 2 weeks after the surgery (glucosse tolerance test) and it showed a significant decrease in the GH hormone, from 6 to 1.9..(normal is below 1). I was wandering if anybody had surgery for acromegaly and does it mean that the levels will continue to go down or thats it. My igf levels are still not back yet tho. I was really concerend with the soft tissue swelling going down but it hasn't. But what i don't get is that do your symptoms get worse or decrease depending on the blood levels like igf 1 or , its that you have the same symptoms in severity no matter if the levels are slightly high or, trmendously high. If anybody could help me out at all i would greatly appreciate it |
