Hi to Williams, AZ, you would think with over 20+ mri's and ct scans it would have been found before but they were looking at the base of my brain and spinal canal, I got the report today that shows(quote from report) there is a mass in the left  side of the pituitary gland whick measures approximately 5mm in transverse diameter by 8mm in the craniciocaudal diameter by 7mm in AP diameter.  There is mild rightward deviation of the pituitary stalk.  No suprasellar mass effect or compression of the optic chiasm. there are normal flow voids in the bilateral carotid siphons.  So much for 99.5% chance that it's not on my pituitary gland.  It's a releif that they found the tumor but that means they missed it for over 18 years and I have no idea how much damage has been done.  My pcp said the blood serum test shows it or it doesn't that's why he ordered it that way, the igf-1 test can show negative so many times which makes the statement on the info I've read seem strange meaning the igf-1 test is suppposed to be the better test, if a test can't always catch it and the other does what are they talking about.  I hope you can again ride in the Tour de Tucson and wish you luck in it if you can?  I used to ride a bicycle every day in Tucson, I didn't even own a car, I was also a ballroom dance instructor, 1977 thru 1985.  Now from the acm1 problems and 24/7 continous head pain since 1989 they had me on such heavy narcotics just so I wouldn't go crazy from the pain after my decompression surgery may 2000, and the surgery didn't work for me completely it did at least allow proper sipnal fluid passage which is why the nsg that did the surgery initially said there was nothing esle he could do for me, but it's possible the acromegaly was already working on my body, my feet went from size 10 to 14 after I was 35 but never thought it meant anything, I'm now very overweight and dizzy and can't tolorate light and sound long including music.  I was just starting to teach my wife how to dance when things went south very fast, around 1997.  I have to see a cardio dr at 10:00am today hopefully he understands acromegaly and it insidousness with the heart because It seems like a very touchy situation with acro and the heart especially since we really don't know how long the acro has been affecting me. It's just my luck having two rare diseases both in the brain area and with so many crossover symptoms that one was missed until a very caring maxio-facial dr took the extra time and care talked about in first post here.  I'm sorry to go so song about me it's just not been a fun journey, have you had your tumor removed, are you still doing the Tour, is htare hope after surgery.  I know you can't answer the last part but I hope you are doing well and thanks for the post.

Thanks,
Tom from Tucson
