----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: nedaTN Message 9 in Discussion Here's whawe know. Went to the endo last week and we discussed options. Surgery is not an option. Standard radiation MIGHT help but it would take a long time to see results so we opt'd out of that. Somavert is the best drug for Bill even thought the diahrea with it is at times severe so he is going back on it. 20mg to start and then increasing to 30mg. He is going to start taking immodium twice a day and then has to go have a colonoscopy. Kinda what we were expecting. Not expected was that one of the blood test came back as showing thyroid activity. Remember Bill had his thyroid gland removed about a year ago due to thyroid cancer and followup radiation treatment. His endo said this might just be some residual thyroid tissue reacting to the high growth hormone levels or could indicate more thyroid cancer. So they did an ultrasound of his neck and we are awaiting the results then they will probably do the whole low iodine diet followed by the injections and then a full body scan again. JOY JOY JOY. If it isn't one thing it's 10 others. Oh well on a good note he's lost 13 lbs. Yeah.
