Hi--

I have a 1/2 inch prolactinoma. I was on birth control pills for 12 years and

only found out about the tumor when I went off the pills. My husband and I are

trying to have kids. My personal belief is that the hormones in the birth

control pills (I was on progesterone) can cause a prolactinoma to grow. Also,

birth control pills do not actually cause a "real" period. So, I don't know
why

he would recommend going on the pill. Also, while I was on the pill for many

years, I had galactorhea. The pill will definetly not stop that. I was
leaking

through my bra and shirt while at work and I was taking the pill.

I have anxiety and nightmares, also. From everything I have read on the
message

boards, it seems to be common.

Anyway...some good news. Bromocriptine, while it makes me really sick and has

many hateful side effects, has reduced my prolactin level to 2.9 mg/l. I

originally had a level of 525 mg/l. Amazingly, it only took 3 months to reduce

it. So, I would try it, before I had surgery.
