Hi Diana, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Drive home was rough
but we made it and I stayed home about 3 weeks. Went back to work but ended up
catching a cold and am home now trying to get totally done with that. My boss
told me to stay home until I am completely well, whatever that means. I liked
most of the nurses as St. John's but they are doing a lot of remodeling and it
is kind of old. I was in the old part of the hospital. My nurses were very
receptive to my questions and seemed experienced with my post op course. They
only have 2 -3 patients when they have a post op patient of Dr Kelly so they
were available when I needed them. Since we were from out of town I kind of
expected them to offer my husband a cot or recliner or something but they did
not. He ended up going to the hotel each night. The nurses were also
proactive about calling the Dr with any questions or concerns. The nursing
assistants were on the other hand not that capable. They did not keep accurate
record of my intake and that made my intake and output off so they ended up
giving my DDAVP. I don't know if I was actually in DI but I think the Drs got
tired of being called hourly and wanted to just make sure. Um...what else
about the hospital? The valet is expensive and the only long term parking.
The preop nurse and anesthesiologist were very nice and professional and did a
good job. I was asleep before I got to the operating room so I did not get to
talk to Dr Kelly right before the surgery. I would go to that hospital again if
needed because they had great staff and were helpful most of the time. My only
concern was housekeeping (not the cleanest floors and I don't think they mopped
my floor the entire time I was there.) and the nursing assistants were not very
receptive to my needs and did not seem to know what they were supposed to keep
track of with me. Thanks again for all the info and support. Beth
