Hi,
I would like to get the opinion for introducing a new attribute. "pkg.icon" is the new attribute I am proposing which can have the details of the icon which is associated with the package. This attribute is similar the "pkg.description" and
"pkg.name" attribute which we are currently using.

The value for "pkg.icon" can be either a http URL like "http://glassfish.org/icon"; if the icon is hosted in web or it can be a path if it is included inside the package. This path is relative to the root directory of the package like "/pkg/images/pkg-24x24.png" .

* No specific size? What size is the icon?

* Have you looked at the Tags and Attributes thread to see how this fits into the naming conventions there? [1]

* What image formats are to be supported? (png, etc.)

* If the icon is supposed to be a file in the package, it makes more sense to reference it by it's SHA1-name (e.g. 8f7c66678a6d903f93b00778deaa028e1ef4e79a) instead of by path.

* I don't believe it prudent to support a URL here given the security implications of supporting a URL for the icon.

* How and where will the GUI cache these icons?

* What's the retention policy for the icons?

Cheers,
