If you mean me, I posted a script for use as the start method of an SMF
service -- that service would be used as an SMF action of IPS pkgs.
That service, via that script, supported the use of SVR4 post{install,
remote} and class action scripts as part of IPS pkg self-assembly via
IPS SMF actions.
It did so only in the context of what IPS allows. It did NOT create an
install-time scripting facility. (And it did not deal with any
installf/removef calls from packaging scripts.)
And it worked only for system images.
We're talking about _user_ images in this thread. Near as I can tell
the problem with _user_ images is the lack of an SMF action equivalent.
If that's so, then why are we not talking about correcting that
deficiency instead of talking about adding install-time scripting to
IPS?????
