Just a quick note, gcc is an overloaded term. In the context of a package

the /usr/bin/gcc command itself.
Should we be looking at a structure like
developer/gcc
developer/gcc/c
developer/gcc/c++
developer/gcc/objc
developer/gcc/fortran
ubuntu allows the individual compilers to be installed separately. We
can pursue this for future releases. We'd need to look at the overlaps
between 4 compilers and create new packages the handle them. Then we
could make an umbrella packages analogous to the current packages for
people who want everything.

etc ("gcc" there could be versioned in some way, like "gcc4" or "gcc432")?
"developer/gcc" could be all the packages in the collection, or at least
the most commonly installed ones.
