As far as I know there was a bit of discussion about the best way to develop
some features.

We want a better rendering library (I mean a library that provide us more
funcionality), options are Ogre3D and others (put here your favorite one).
We want to make models without the need to code C or almost get to that
point. should we do our own file format?, use COLLADA?
We may or may not want to change the world file format.

Nate (the main developer of Gazebo) is in "standby mode", he will answer you
questions and correct bugs but he currently seems to have no time to make
further improvements.

I'm sure that any sensible code you can submit will be happily accepted.
I step myself to do some sound related sensors but I discovered that
player already had that code (look for festival). I was wondering about what
I have to do about it when I became far more busy...

Hello,

A couple of months ago an enticing email was sent to the list
detailing a possible update to Gazebo including several new exciting
features (python-scripted models, OGRE rendering, and changes to the
dynamic engine to name a few). I am in no way trying to rush the
development process but my curiosity forces me to inquire of the
status of this update. Is there something I can do to help?

Thank you,

Nathan Michael
