The modification of the "rpmsrate" file isn't the unique improvement
you could made.
If you modify the "compssUsers.pl" file at /media/media_info directory
you could modify the default selected groups of packages shown in the
installer. You may add/modify/remove any group.

The easiest way to create a new group "PLF essentials" for example,
that automatically selects one group of packages defined in rpmsrate
file could be:

* Create a new reduced PLF_ESSENTIALS group at rpmsrate file with the
essential/best PLF packages that should be recommended for install by
default.
* Add or Replace for example the LSB group at compssUsers.pl (for many
people these group are not so important) with a new "PLF essentials"
group.

If you add groups to the compssUsers.pl file without modifying the
installer code, some installer window contents may disappear at the
bottom of the window (the window height is defined constant), but if
you only add one group I think you don't have to replace or hide any
other group, all contents should fit in.

Also it exists one script named "check_rpmsrate" that allow you to
check all package dependencies automatically. It's very useful.
I don't know if it's available for Mandriva 2007 version, but I
remember I used it in Mandriva 2005.

I expect these suggestions could be interesting for you.

Kind regards.
