Well, for instance, I don't think you could use the 2006 NVIDIA driver
very successfully on 2007 (or vice versa) because of the rearrangement
of X.org that happened during the 2007 cycle. The dkms-nvidia package
would likely be fine but I think the nvidia package would have problems.
If something like that were to happen during the cycle for the next
release, the Cooker package might stop working on 2007.
