I've already started, Mike, but y'all lose yourselves perfectly good
developers who would be glad to help if not for the predilection to avoid
anything with a taint of Microsoft on it. You're doing just as much
crying, wanting people to dive in and fix it but not providing docs on what
is required in the form of support libraries, headers, and tools. (make,
gcc, and the Palm SDK we can take as read.)

For example, you mischaracterize the cygwin problem. I've used cygwin in
the past under Windows, and I've used gcc. Haven't used gcc under cygwin
much but didn't have any trouble getting it working. I've still got
programs I wrote that I change and recompile under BSD regularly, so it's
not complete inexperience with the *nix environment. No, it's the large
quantity of dependencies that you aren't noticing because you've got them
set up.

Off-list I sent Robert the names of some headers he apparently expects to
come from wxWindows, that are not in the distribution of wxWindows I just
got. Asked him where they could be found. (His answer tells me I grabbed
the top "stable" build and he's using the top "dev" build.) I determined
this by diving in. As I said, I've been reading up on Python today to try
to get a handle on the language. And I obviously looked at the sources or
I couldn't have determined their languages, even of Exploder. These aren't
exactly traits of a cry baby, Mike.

So here I am already trying to fix the problem and you're pissing about how
"Windows cry babies" don't. Harumph! I -am- trying to fix it, but first I
have to understand it and verify that, in the face of all logic, it really
is as it appears. Sheesh!

As for "easy to use Plucker", I didn't whine about that, but yesterday (my
second day of Plucker, third of Palm) I did start a QuickStart introduction
guide to it so that people like my sister could install/use it. The
Desktop eliminates a lot of the grunt-work of using it, but there's only so
much even a good interface can do about conceptual issues.

My guess is that my initial efforts won't change the actual source code
much... just make it easier for the next person. But hey, it's something.
