This is exactly what I've been working on the last few months. Basically a palm-based port of debian's APT[1]. The cool thing about it though is that it won't be plucker-specific, but plucker documents (or any other type of prc/pdb) would be able to utilize it by allowing the user to automagically download the latest version of a palm file on a server, either by hotsyncing or by http/ftp. I'm planning on writing a windows conduit for this to work, but at this point only direct network http/ftp support works (sorta). The idea being that you would add a source repository into the program (say for example, http://palm.bbc.co.uk/apt-palm/plucker/) and each time you hotsync (or connect to the network to 'synchronize') it'll check the site to see if there is any new pre-plucked copies of the BBC webpage ready. It downloads and installs automatically during the hotsync. Obviously, someone at the BBC (again, for example) would have to actually create the plucker .pdb and stuff it into a directory, then create an index of what's there (via a perl script). Then, all they need to do is write a cronjob to update it every hour, or whatever. Atleast, that's the idea. Coming soon to an OSS mirror near you :) [1] http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/index.en.html -- Adam McDaniel Array.org Calgary, AB, Canada _______________________________________________ plucker-dev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-dev
