Any hints on removing the illegal tags would be
welcome. I don't really know HTML. Is there any way to automatically
scan or clean up the close-to-1-Meg source document, rather than hunting
for needles in the haystack (and not being sure what a needle looks
like?)
Or can the conversion engine be persuaded to give
locations or other diagnostics? The first compiler I worked on --too
many years ago-- ran overnight, and at the end of compilation would say "a
syntax error was found" ... i thought software had moved on a bit
:-)
The html-creator being MS Word, there are many,
many things like
<!--[if gte mso
9]><xml>
... etc
Do they really all have to be removed?
If so, then clearly I need some other way of
going from text to html. How do other people do this? What's the
best/simplest way to get from Project Gutenberg to Plucker?
Many thanks again
Alan
PS where is the plucker FAQ? If the
plucker-list mailings included a pointer to it, that might save someone some
duplication of effort ...
