Thanks for all the suggestions. Some of you have suggested things like BackupBuddy and other similar tools to backing up to a SD card. This is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. Once I knew what these things were called I did a google search and a project called "Red Feline Backup" showed up. Anyone used it? It is GPLed software which is certainly nice if it works.
Also Dan Stromberg mentioned getting the hardware fixed... Isn't that too easy? No seriously I will take a look into that, although I really don't know how I would go about finding someone who could fix it. I guess I will need to contact Palm One about that. I certainly don't want to have to get a new one since both me and my wife love our Palm m125s. The ability to take extra batteries with you and switch if you need to is awesome.
