Considering that Palm m125's are selling for less than $40 on ebay, I
am skeptical that getting it repaired would be a cost effective
solution.  Even if the repair would be a simple matter of resoldering
or replacing a capacitor, I have difficulty imagining someone would
attempt it for less than $20.   Ahh, the benefits and risks of planned
obsolescence.

Some of the aforementioned backup programs are $20 (I use
BackupBuddyVFS, myself).  There also exist Free software programs
which approximate much of the functionality (simple backup/restore).

I'd suggest trying the free programs and seeing if they work well
enough.  If not, it's probably more worth your $ to replace the whole
palm.
