lol, yea, i think we'll just have to help ourselves with the
connection in linux...

i was chatting with some linux users in bangalore (irc.freenode.net
#linux-india) and a couple of guys from bangalore are saying the
connection from modem to PC *may be* ethernet (but they havent got the
connection yet, expecting it in a week or two 8-P so they're not
sure). again i dunno when they say ethernet will it be pppoe or what
(DHCP)... another friend of mine (in US) says his ADSL modem provides
IP via DHCP (where as a few years ago it used to be some sort of
dialup) so no troubles with linux so Im hoping the BSNL equipment is
the saem new tech...

the same guy mentioned that BSNL's tender for the equipment called for
OS-independent operation (mac and linux support), no need for extra
installation/drivers... so im hopeful...! (i havent seen the tender
myself)
