PS: vlc also has transcoding capabilities: through a wizard under the file menu or directly from the open file / stream / disc dialogue. You will need to experiment with codecs, bit rates and wrappers before getting a transcoded version that can play on Linux (or vlc) and Windows (on WMP) alike. This has more to do with Windows using proprietary codecs and not easing use of open alternatives. You can also see the latest release of gnash ( http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash), a GNU flash player that is trying to catch up with the newer flash versions (now you know how proprietary software ensures lock-in: by changing formats frequently and keeping them secret). -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) List Information: http://plug.org.in/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
