I had suspected you meant cybercafé when you said cafe.  Go with Ubuntu or
Mandriva.  They look good, are easy to install and maintain (Mandriva with
the plf - Penguin Liberation Front - repository) and are frequently
updated.  In short, they are mainstream.

You can ask PLUG members for a CD / DVD.
