#_ To accept credit card payments, you'll need a merchant account with your
#_ bank and a way to validate credit card numbers. Theoretically, it's really
#_ no different from if you were running a real B&M store (salesperson
#_ verifies your credit with the bank, you agree to pay X amount for Y
#_ goods/services).
#_
#_ Of course, banks and credit card companies don't allow merchant
#_ transactions over the network, so these are often left to third parties.

That's right. A couple of years ago, my cousin wanted to put up a web based
store for a product that he sells here in South East Asia, However, ALL the
credit card companies refused to give him a merchant status because under
Philippine law the buyer HAS TO PERSONALLY SIGN the transaction receit (or
whatever is it that you call that piece of paper na pinaplancha together
with the card). So hangang ngayon e-mail and money/bank transfer pa rin. And
you should see how much these banks charge for bank transfer!!
