# > One more thing, I'm actually planning simple web programming in Linux
which I'm not yet familiar. If I will remove my Gnome, okay lang ba ipasa
sa Linux ang mga programs ko sa Windows? I've used HTML, Javascript,
Photoshop, Dreamweaver & Java, pwede ba sa Linux?

Here's what I normally do: I have a laptop where the primary OS is Linux.
I run Java (IBM, Sun, and Blackdown.org), Java application servers
(weblogic, and orionserver), Informix/PostgreSQL, Netscape, GNOME,
Emacs/JBuilder/Forte, and more. For not-so-Linux-based software like
Ratonal Rose, ErWin, and even MSOffice, I use Win4Lin from TreLOS
(www.trelos.com) which serves as a x86 VM for Windows.

I prefer Win4Lin over VMWare bec.
- it's cheaper ($50 vs. $300),
- it's faster -- no need for those fat drivers since Win4Lin drivers for
Windows just maps to the resources of host Linux machine; e.g. Win4Lin
has a winsock implementation that just maps to the Linux BSD socket lib)
- The Windows drives map to directories in the local Linux file system
(soemthing not available in VMWare)
- It works!

The downside to it are:
- no sound support (yet)
- no Windows networking support (yet)

TreLOS is currently working on those features. At least as stated in
their website.
